The architectural side of Q’s design takes flight in this collection of handcrafted and textured miniature sculptures and eye-catching metalwork pieces textured using acid etching, roller printing and hand carving of sterling, 22k and black and white rhodium. Q also incorporates the ancient Korean technique of Keum Boo, the fusing of 22k gold into sterling silver.

The Metal Elements Collection incorporates techniques of acid etching, roller printing and hand carving of sterling, 22k and black and white rhodium, and the ancient Korean technique of Keum Boo.
The Metal Elements collection of rings, earrings and bracelets was inspired by Wabi sabi, an ancient aesthetic philosophy rooted in Zen Buddhism. One definition of wabi-sabi is the view or thought of finding beauty in every aspect of imperfection in nature.
On holiday in the Maldives, Q's hotel room had an interesting room divider made from woven twigs and branches. It was asymmetrical yet perfectly balanced with a structure that was both strong structure and free flowing. This is what Q wanted to create with the Metal Elements earrings and rings; embracing the philosophy of “beauty in imperfection” with purposeful alterations in symmetry and metal texture while achieving perfect balance.
Within the collection, our sterling silver is rhodium plated for anti-tarnish. Rhodium plated means the base metal (silver) is coated in a thin layer of rhodium for extra strength and luster. Jewelry plated in rhodium is shinier and more durable than other metals. Rhodium plating does not scratch, dent, or corrode and retains its luster. Learn more about rhodium plating.
