These finely crafted Black and Gold Edge Earrings combine the vibrancy of 14k gold with the deep tones of Black Rhodium.
Experiencing colors, textures and shapes in nature, and cities small and large, has always inspired my designs, as have philosophies like Wabi Sabi.
What is Wabi Sabi?
Wabi sabi, an ancient aesthetic philosophy rooted in Zen Buddhism, inspired the Edge earrings, rings and bracelets. One definition of Wabi-sabi is the view or thought of finding beauty in every aspect of imperfection in nature.
On holiday in the Maldives, my hotel room had an interesting room divider made from woven twigs and branches. It was asymmetrical yet perfectly balanced with a structure that was both strong structure and free flowing. This is what I believe I achieved with the Edge collection: embracing the philosophy of “beauty in imperfection” with purposeful alterations in symmetry and metal texture while achieving perfect balance. Wabi Sabi.
Why Omega Backs? Stunning earrings deserve a secure earring back like our omega backs made by Italian craftsmen. Omega backs are an evolution of the popular earclips of the 1940s and 50s and take their name from their uncanny resemblance to the Greek letter omega – Ω. The ends of the looped finding attach to the earring via a hinge. When closed over the post the rounded end of the omega back holds to the ear via pressure for a secure fit.
Edge Earrings are also available in 14k gold, 18k vermeil over sterling silver, and sterling silver with white rhodium plating for anti-tarnish.
