CITRINE is the traditional birthstone for the month of November and is associated with hope, cheerfulness, youth, health and fidelity.  It is known as the "healing quartz" encouraging energy and warmth within the wearer.  Citrine jewelry is given as the gemstone gift for both the 13th & 17th year anniversaries.
Citrine is any quartz crystal or cluster that is yellow or orange in color.  Many times citrine starts out as amethyst or smoky quartz and when heat is applied by nearby magnetic bodies to create that unique pale yellow color.  It is one of the most affordable gemstones and is plentiful in nature, commonly found in Brazil, Bolivia and Spain.
